Aaba and Aaie. In December 1999, I went with them to Tirupati for 5 days. One of the best trips ever.

Jan 1999, Bombay: This was one of my first pictures taken by natural light. Geetu, one of my classmates from undergraduate school was sitting by the window and I was at my wits end on how to make her laugh. I asked her to hold a "chunni" over her t-shirt and jeans outfit. To that she replied that she would never a chunni with a pair of jeans. So, I said, what do you want to remove?? And she burst into this wonderful smile.

Jan, 1999, Bombay: This was my first experience with bounced light. Rohini, who has also been with me since undergraduate, was by a window with light streaming through. I asked her to hold out her chunni that created the effect.

Here are a few pictures that I took in Bombay, India. The first two pictures are from my local vegetable market. They have been our vegetable vendors for almost 18 years.

May 2001 : For this memorial day weekend, I met up with my undergraduate friends in New York City.  

2002, Boston : I visited Boston in Fall 2002 to visit MIT-Sloan and stayed over with Aditi and Vishal. I was seeing both of them after almost 3 years. These pictures were taken with the flashed bounced off a wall on their left hand side. Hence the shadows.

Puja is one of my favorite models. I met her when I was in San Diego and soon became great friends. She came to visit me in Minneapolis for Labor Day 2002 when we drove to Milwaukee.

April 2002: I went to visit Aarti in Washington DC en route for the Admit Weekend at Darden, University of Virginia, Charlottesville. There I also met Kaustubh who was doing his PhD at Virginia Tech, Alexandria.

May 2002: For memorial day weekend, I met with my high school friends from Ruparel College, Bombay at Purdue where Priyan is doing his PhD. Devan Street - the Indian part of town in Chicago was the highlight. This looks exactly like a scene from India - bumper to bumper parking, crowds, people eating paan and lines and lines of shops.

Visited Jaipur, Delhi and of course amchi Mumbai. Met Neel & Laxmi in Jaipur. Delhi was made memorable by Arushi, Shikha and Anirudh.
